Dr. Shepard Delong
Dr. DeLong is a third generation dentist. With experience derived from time spent assisting his father at a young age to performing dentistry in remote locations around the world, he has developed unique perspective, intuition and skills. He has practiced in some of the most advanced dental settings from a technological, medical and holistic standpoint. He is still on staff and works periodically at Pure Health Dentistry on the island of Maui.
Throughout his own health journey, Dr. DeLong has benefitted greatly from the care and services offered by other holistic medical professionals. There is so much current science on wellness and human health that supports this philosophy. His practice of meditation and yoga, have guided his evolution as a person and dentist.
When setting out to start his own practice, Dr. DeLong had the goals of offering the highest quality dental services in a mindful, holistic, high tech, eco friendly setting. He met Dr. Jeff Williamson during his planning phase and they both saw a great opportunity. Dr. Williamson has been one of the Northwest’s best holistic dentists for over 30 years and was ready to retire. Dr. DeLong knew the benefits of joining a great mentor and office with all the systems in place to treat patients in a holistic and high quality environment.
In April of 2017 Dr. DeLong purchased Centerpointe Dental and Dr. Williamson retired. The practice has changed its name to Lotus Dental Wellness. The vision of the practice moving forward is to continue providing a high level of care and commitment to holistic, health centered dentistry while implementing new technology and systems to enhance patient care and environmental stewardship.
Dr. Jeeyoung Han
Allow me to introduce Dr. Jeeyoung Han, a devoted mother of two wonderful girls and a remarkable dentist who seamlessly blends her artistic talents with her clinical expertise. With a Fine Art background (BFA), she brings a unique artistic perspective to her practice. With a strong focus on prosthodontics, she expertly combines her artistic talents with functional expertise in smile-makeover cases. Inspired by her father's commitment to continuous learning, who served as the president of the Korean Dental Association, she actively seeks out CE courses to enhance her skills. Dr. Han was awarded the 19th Howard Memorial Student Competition Award from OAGD, an OHSU School of Dentistry Alumni Association Scholarship for Excellence, as well as a Student Award of Merit from the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry for her dedication to the field of esthetic dentistry. She also received a certificate of appreciation for her contribution to diversity, equity, and inclusion at OHSU. Dr. Han’s passion for the diversity of general practice is tangible; her ability to connect with each patient personally reflects her holistic approach to care. Her unwavering dedication to patient-centered excellence and her artistic flair make her a truly exceptional addition to the field of dentistry and Lotus Dental Wellness. Dr. Han wishes to connect with each of you and improve one smile at a time—brighter and healthier! When she is not in the clinic, she is either camping outdoors, paddleboarding, or tending to her houseplants and backyard garden to provide a wholesome meal for her family and her pet hedgehog.
DR. LAURA RAILAND
Dr. Railand graduated from OHSU with clinical and academic honors where upon graduation she was inducted into the OKU dental honor society. Since graduation Dr. Railand has devoted much of her continuing education to the study of oral and systemic health or simply the mouth body connection. She is devoted to using the least invasive, least toxic evidence-based approaches to dentistry, evaluating the entire person, and understanding how the cranial facial, oral, and dental components fit into this whole-body system.
Through her passion to treat patients with this philosophy she sought out and worked with the late Dr. Douglas Cook who is considered by many to be one of the founders of the whole-body approach to dentistry. Dr. Railand worked as an associate of Dr. Cook for a few years before starting her own practice, Holistic Dentistry of Port Washington located north of Milwaukee WI. While in private practice Dr. Railand provided all aspects of dental care ranging from functional orthodontics to ceramic implant placement and full mouth rehabilitations. Dr. Railand has exceeded continuing education requirements many times over with great enthusiasm to provide the best care possible. She believes that by working as a team and sharing our knowledge we can accelerate our learning curve. This has been demonstrated through the long standing and supportive friendship Dr. Railand has with Dr. Delong since their years as students together at PSU and OHSU. Dr. Railand and Dr. Delong stayed in touch reviewing complex dental cases, sharing in new improved techniques, and inspiring each other as they moved through their dental career. When Dr. Railand decided to sell her practice and move her family back to the beautiful nature of Oregon, it made perfect sense to join Dr. Delong and team. Dr. Railand is excited to work with Lotus Dental Wellness to continue to grow and raise the expectations of what can be achieved to help optimize our patients’ overall health.
