Recommended Pre-Visit Blood Test for New Patients & Surgical Planning

To help us provide the safest and most effective dental care, we recommend that all new patients complete a comprehensive blood test before their first exam, and that patients scheduled for any surgical procedure complete testing 30–45 days prior to surgery.

Recommended Test: Elite Health Profile

This advanced panel gives us valuable insights into your overall inflammatory state, nutritional status, and metabolic health—factors that directly affect oral health, healing, and surgical outcomes.

Why This Test Matters

Your body’s internal environment plays a huge role in how well you heal, respond to inflammation, and fight infection. This test helps us identify key markers that influence dental care:

Inflammatory Markers
Inflammation drives gum disease and slows healing after dental procedures. Monitoring these markers helps us tailor treatment and improve outcomes.

Vitamin D
Vitamin D is essential for immune function, bone health, and tissue repair. Low levels are common and can negatively impact recovery after extractions, implants, or other surgeries.

LDL Cholesterol
Elevated LDL can be a sign of cardiovascular stress and systemic inflammation—both of which are linked to gum disease and healing complications.

HbA1c
This marker reflects blood sugar control over time. Poor glucose management not only increases the risk for periodontal (gum) disease but also significantly affects how well you heal after surgical procedures.

6-Month Post-Surgical Recheck

Healing doesn’t end the day your procedure is complete and neither does our commitment to your health.

Once surgical healing is fully complete, we recommend repeating your blood markers approximately 6 months after treatment to evaluate progress and ensure your body is responding optimally.

Rechecking allows us to:

  • Confirm inflammation levels have improved

  • Ensure Vitamin D levels are optimal for bone stability

  • Monitor blood sugar control (HbA1c) for long-term implant and gum health

  • Evaluate LDL and systemic inflammatory risk

  • Track measurable improvement from your personalized treatment plan

This follow-up testing helps us determine whether your dental treatment is supporting your overall wellness and whether any additional nutritional or lifestyle adjustments may further enhance long-term success.

At Lotus Dental Wellness, we don’t just complete procedures. We monitor healing, reduce inflammation, and support your whole-body health over time.
